Karel Jezernik Ph.D. prof. received the B.Sc. degree in electrical
engineering from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Electronics
in Ljubljana, Slovenia, in 1968. From 1968 to 1970 he was employed by
the Automation Institute (Zavod za avtomatizacijo) in Ljubljana as a
Project Engineer. He was involved in the design of automatic control
systems for controlled drives and in industrial automation.
In 1970 he was employed as an assistant at the then Faculty of Technical
Sciences in Maribor. He received the M.Sc degree in electrical engineering
from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Electronics in Ljubljana in
1974. He received the Ph.D. degree from the same institution in 1976.
In the academic year 1974/75 he was on a study visit at the Institute of Control Engineering in Braunschweig in Germany. In 1976 he was elected Assistant Professor, and in 1985 Professor of Electrical Engineering at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, the University of Maribor.
He was head of the Department of Electrical Engineering (1977 - 1981), chairman of the R&D Institute at the Department of Electrical Engineering (1981 - 1985)and vice rector of the University of Maribor (1985 - 1987). He is currently a member of the Scientific Council of the Alpe-Adria Rectorial Conference and a member of the Scientific-Technological Council of the Republic of Slovenia. His research interest are: automatic control variable speed drives and robotic.
Dr. Karel Jezernik is a member of the Electrotechnical Association of Slovenia and vice-president of the Automation and Robotization Society of Slovenia. He is also a member of the editorial board of the Elektrotehniski vestnik (Electrotechnical Review). He is a member of the Slovenian section of IEEE since 1978. Dr. Jezernik acted as a member of several programming and steering committees at international and national conferences. Some recent ones are cited below:
